Post-election Report: Presidential and Legislative Elections in Ecuador
On August 20, early elections were held in Ecuador in an atmosphere charged with tension, uncertainty and a climate of political violence, the most important milestone of which was the assassination of a presidential candidate. In these elections, no candidate obtained 40 percent of the votes and, based on this, the next president will be defined in a second round on October 15.
